A Final Focus on Hand Arc and Hand Release

Hand release in the impact zone provides the key to unlocking good golf. Hand arc supplements it perfectly, dictating where the club head will be at every stage of the swing.

The door frame used in this drill is a very physical guide to keeping your hands on the correct hand arc. If you are swinging well, you will find that the entire swing will fit inside the door frame. If your hands are straying from their arc, you will soon bruise your knuckles. We advise conducting the following drill slowly!

We have used a cut-down shaft. Your local pro shop should be able to cut an old golf club down for you. If you don’t have one already though, or can’t get one, you can use any similar length object in its place – a child’s club works perfectly, or even a wooden spoon.
